FEES & INSURANCE
We understand investing in your child's educational and psychological well-being is an important decision.
At Mind Matters, we strive to provide transparent information about our fees and insurance options to help you make informed choices for your family.
Our Rates
Our fees vary depending on the specific service and provider.
We offer discounts for returning families and for clients who pay by cash, check, or Zelle.
✔ Psychoeducational & Neuropsychological Evaluations
Comprehensive Evaluations
Dr. MurrayMetzger: $8,100
All other clinicians: $7,200
Payment discount: $200 off when paying by check, Zelle, or cash
Returning Family Discount: $300 off for returning evaluation clients (or their siblings)
Focused Evaluations
Cost typically ranges from $4,200 - $4800
An estimate will be provided after the parent intake meeting based on your child's specific needs
Focused Evaluations are designed to answer specific questions about your child's development, learning, or behavior. Unlike our comprehensive evaluations that assess multiple areas of functioning (which most families ultimately need), these screenings target one particular concern or question with precision and efficiency.
Mind Matters offers a limited number of fee adjustments for evaluations, based on family household size & total income.
✔ Additional Evaluation Services
For additional services beyond what's included in our evaluations, we charge our usual fee ($300/50 minutes) prorated to the nearest 6 minutes
School meetings (e.g 504, IEP or private school collaboration)
Extended Travel time For school observations and meetings (first 30 minutes round trip is free)
Child feedback sessions (meetings usually last 25 minutes)
Follow-up Parent Consultations for prior evaluation clients
✔ IQ Testing
For WISC-V/WAIS-IV/Stanford Binet-V:
$450 with our Advanced Trainee (supervised by Dr. MurrayMetzger)
$900 with Dr. MurrayMetzger
$800 with all other licensed clinicians
For WPPSI-IV:
$750 with Dr. MurrayMetzger
$650 with all other licensed clinicians
The flat fee for intelligence testing includes a 90-120 minute testing session and a written report of scores. The report includes general information about your child, behavioral observations, your child's scores, and explanation of what the tasks measure.
For further discussion about results and recommendations, parents can opt to schedule a 25-minute follow-up phone call with their child's clinician for $150. Since not every family wants this discussion, we charge separately for this feedback call.
Note: IQ Testing includes a $10 non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot, with the remainder due at the time of service.
✔ Parent Guidance Consultations
Flat fee of $350 for a 50-minute consultation
Includes follow-up via email/phone to help identify appropriate support resources
Insurances Accepted
Mind Matters does not accept insurance directly.
However, some insurance companies do reimburse for our services through their out-of-network policies. We are happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to insurance for a possible reimbursement.
Out-of-Network Options
While we don't bill insurance companies directly, we can provide you with a detailed statement (called a "superbill") after services are completed that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Our services can also be submitted for reimbursement through HSA/FSA accounts.
✔ Contact our Client Care Coordinator to ask for our OON Insurance Reimbursement Guide
✔ Pay Mind Matters directly for services
✔ Call your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network benefits for psychological and educational testing services
✔ Following the completion of the service, request a superbill from our Billing Coordinator
✔ Ask specifically about coverage for diagnostic codes and procedure codes related to your child's evaluation (listed in our Guide)
✔ Submit the superbill we provide to your insurance company for reimbursement
Cancellation Policy
We understand that circumstances sometimes require rescheduling. Our cancellation policies are designed to respect both your time and our clinicians' time:
IQ Testing
Cancellations more than 24 hours in advance incur no additional fees beyond the non-refundable $10 deposit. Cancellations within 24 hours will be charged 25% of the testing fee. No-shows who don't notify in advance will be charged in full, though 75% of the fee may be applied toward future IQ testing.
Evaluations & Screenings
Cancellations made with more than 24 hours' notice incur no additional fees for scheduled appointments, though we retain a $25 deposit (which can be applied to a future session if rescheduled). If you need to cancel the entire evaluation process after paying your initial deposit, we refund your $450 deposit (minus a $25 administrative fee) only if we can fill your reserved testing slot.
Parent Guidance Consultations
Cancellations with more than 24 hours' notice incur no additional fees, but the $10 deposit remains non-refundable.
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your care will cost.
Health care providers must give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of expected costs
You can request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill
Save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records
For questions about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visitwww.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
Fee Adjustments
Mind Matters offers a limited number of fee adjustments for comprehensive evaluations and focused screenings, based on family household size and total income.
These adjustments are not available for IQ testing or Parent Guidance Consultations, though we do offer various IQ testing fee options to accommodate different budgets.
If you're interested in learning more about our fee adjustment options for evaluations or screenings, please let our Client Care Coordinator know when you reach out.
