What Are School
Meeting Services?

For any student we've evaluated, we offer professional support during critical meetings with your child's school.

Our licensed psychologists attend these meetings to help explain evaluation results, clarify your child's learning needs, and advocate for appropriate supports and accommodations.

School meetings can be intimidating for parents, especially when discussing complex learning or attention challenges. Having an experienced professional by your side ensures your child's needs are accurately represented and understood by school staff. Our psychologists serve as knowledgeable advocates who can:

  • Translate psychological and educational terminology into accessible language

  • Explain how your child's learning profile affects their educational needs

  • Help identify specific, effective accommodations and interventions

  • Bridge communication between parents and educators

  • Ensure the focus remains on practical solutions for your child

Types of School Meetings We Support

Independent & Private School Meetings

These meetings may involve administrators, counselors, and teachers to discuss your child's learning needs and develop an appropriate support plan. While private schools aren't legally required to provide accommodations, most are willing to implement reasonable support when they understand a student's specific needs.

Public School Meetings

SST (Student Support Team)

SST meetings bring together teachers, administrators, and support staff to discuss concerns about a student's academic progress or behavior and develop an initial intervention plan. These meetings often precede more formal support plans.

IEP (Individualized Education Plan) Meetings

IEP meetings involve a formal process to develop specialized instruction and related services for students who qualify for special education. These meetings include discussions about evaluation results, eligibility, goals, accommodations, and placement options.

504 Plan Meetings

These meetings establish accommodations for students with disabilities who can participate in the general education curriculum with appropriate supports. A 504 Plan documents specific accommodations, modifications, and supports necessary for your child's academic success.

Follow-Up & Review Meetings

These meetings assess the effectiveness of implemented supports and make adjustments as needed.

We can provide ongoing advocacy as your child's educational needs evolve.

  • Yes, many schools now offer virtual meeting options, and usually we participate via video conference. However, we can attend in-person if preferred.

  • Private schools are not required by law to accommodate your child's needs, but most will work to support your child once they understand their profile. That's why having your clinician attend a meeting with your child's school can be crucial.
