- Roshni Narasimhan

Roshni Narasimhan is an Advanced Practicum Student working under supervision at Mind Matters, specializing in comprehensive neuropsychological and diagnostic evaluations with particular expertise in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across a wide range of presentations and cognitive abilities, including minimally verbal youth.

Roshni brings a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach to her assessments, working to create supportive and empowering processes that prioritize safety, trust, and clarity for families.

With extensive experience working with autistic children across a broad spectrum of abilities, Roshni has rigorous training in ASD diagnostic measures and tailors each evaluation to meet each child's unique communication and sensory needs. Her particular interest lies in supporting youth whose ways of expressing themselves—verbally or nonverbally—may be overlooked or misunderstood by others, ensuring that their authentic experiences are recognized and valued.

Beyond her core specialties, Roshni assesses children and adolescents experiencing learning disabilities, ADHD, intellectual disability, and social-emotional challenges. Her background spans clinical, research, and academic support settings, giving her deep understanding of how assessments can be used to advocate for services in both medical and educational systems. She also conducts legal and forensic neuropsychological evaluations and works with adults experiencing memory concerns and cognitive decline.

What distinguishes Roshni's work is her unique perspective as an autism researcher focused on the impact of nonverbal emotional expression in autistic children—an area often overlooked but crucial for understanding social and adaptive functioning. This research background brings added depth to her clinical work, allowing her to recognize and interpret subtle patterns of communication and expression that might otherwise be missed.

Roshni's approach emphasizes emotion regulation and behavior support for children with neurodevelopmental differences and their families. She works with an advocacy lens, using assessment as a tool to open doors to appropriate services and supports while helping families develop confidence in supporting their child's growth and well-being.

Her goal is for each evaluation to provide not just answers, but a clearer sense of self and a pathway forward—whether that means access to school services, a new framework for understanding, or simply a sense of relief and validation. Roshni is particularly skilled at working with families who may have had negative past experiences with evaluations, creating a process that feels safe and empowering rather than intimidating.

Outside of her clinical work, Roshni is a digital artist who creates vibrant, South Asian-inspired art. She also enjoys singing, playing the piano, and spending quality time with friends and family.
